HP-PSA Teknologi v.s Hypoxic Air Membrane

We do not put out fires. We prevent it from occurring!

Our LOX® HP-PSA technology from FX Prevent reduces the energy cost of producing Nitrogen by 50% compared to Hypoxic Air Membrane systems and ensures optimal energy savings and a sustainable and eco-efficient solution.

The LOX® system’s specially developed pressure vessels use less than 2m³ of compressed air to produce 1m³ of 95% pure nitrogen. No other system on the market achieves the same, and often needs up to 3m³ of compressed air to produce 1m³ of Nitrogen. Apart from the clean energy savings in the N2 production itself, the LOX® system needs less compressor – and thus lower investment costs – to produce the required amount of air.

By using PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption) technology, FX Prevent has developed a completely new system (HP – High Performance) that removes all previous disadvantages of traditional PSA systems. HP technology is primarily distinguished by an optimized airflow in the system and a unique press-on system for CMS (Carbon Molecular Sieve) pellets. These unique improvements in the system provide a result that is environmentally friendly while reducing energy consumption.

The LOX® HP-PSA (High-Performance Pressure Swing Adsorption) solution is also equipped with our patented Pre-load mechanism which is designed to counteract atomization for the LOX systems. Although this system in itself significantly reduces the risk of dust, there will always be a risk of carbon dust in PSA systems. FX Prevent therefore always offers AM dust filters in the nitrogen line for the LOX systems to capture unwanted particles. Our standard AM particulate filters capture dust particles with size from 0.3um and up. In addition, we also offer AME particle filters that capture particles as small as 0.01um.

What is perceived as the greatest risk of PSA-type nitrogen generators is the “blow-out” in the carbon filters (CMS) which causes a dust cloud of carbon dust. Due to the Pre-load system, this risk is already significantly reduced, compared to most other PSA systems on the market today, and the possibilities for monitoring the AM/AME particulate filters (Δp) provide an early warning if dust particles clog the filters. In combination with well-functioning service routines and monitoring of filters, the risk of such situations will therefore be minimal in a LOX system.

Besides carbon particles, the AM/AME filters that we offer with our LOX systems will also protect against aerosols, moisture, oil vapour, odours etc.

The fire-protected area can be used as usual for the employees because the oxygen level is only reduced down to 15% – 17%. This is equivalent to working at an altitude between 1750 – 2500 meters above sea level. All research indicates that this is unproblematic, but on a general basis we would still say that if you have medical restrictions with being in an airplane or staying at these altitudes above sea level, you should consult a doctor before staying for a long time in an area with reduced oxygen.
